[digg-me]I've been contemplating and talking with several friends over if it is now sexy to be geeky. We've all come to the conclusion that it is. And what is geekier than video gaming these days? Seems more and more girls/women are getting into video games and gaming in general. It's creating a whole new category, gaming girl porn.

Best way to learn PHP programming?

I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to learn PHP programming. I am very familar with html, css, dhtml and some scripting. I would like to learn to code in PHP to further customize this site as well as other sites that I maintain. I do know some basic PHP functions such as includes, but beyond that i have to cut and paste others codes. I want to learn how to write my own now.

So i am looking for websites, suggestions on books and even applications which will help me learn. I already have experience with Adobe Dreamweaver and Macromedia Homesite 4.5 (no longer supported).

I have also set up Apache version 2.2.8 on my machine and PHP5. What books would you recommend I read?

Rhapsody and DRM Removal

So I've known about Rhapsodys service for quite some time. If you haven't tried it out or are familar with it, you pay a monthly fee and have access to millions of tracks from just about every artist thinkable. You also have acces to live streaming channels of music, talk shows and more. You also have the ability to listen to live streaming radio stations from around the world. You can even download tracks or complete albums and sync them to your ipod or compatable player. However, there is a downside. The tracks are encoded in the Real Networks .RAX format. Which will prevent them from playing with many or most MP3 players. That has been what has kept me from signing up long ago, that is until now. There is an application called "DrmRemoval retails for $19.99 for the standard version", as the name implies it strips the Real Networks Drm off the tracks and converts them to .MP3 format, thus making them playable on almost all music players. DrmRemoval also converts DRM protected WMA, WMA, DRM protected M4P iTunes, M4P, AAC, WAV, MP3 files etc.. Before this, the only option was to purchase the tracks (unpurchased tracks are not burnable) , and then burn them to disc and re-rip them off the disc to your drive. So you are in effect re-encoding the same track twice, causing loss of quality.

So for $12.99 a month and an initial $19.99 investment. I now have a vast selection of tracks to download and add to my library. With the corruption of most file sharing sites such as The Pirate Bay and Bit Torrent Junkie with corrupted and virus laden files, not too mention the ever increasing number of tracks that the RIAA and others have uploaded that play only a few seconds of the track then switch to a loud noise or just silence. It's making finding actual music files of decent quality (192kbps or up) harder and harder.

I wish i had discovered this a long time ago. So far this evening I have downloaded a dozen albums, converted them and added them to my Ipod Nano. I may never use a P2P site again!

Playstation 3 Update 2.17 Released

So Sony released an update for the Playstation 3., which will now allow Playstation 2 games to be saved on to the harddrive. So I can FINALLY play my copy of Final Fantasy X1 that I bought for five dollars 2 years ago.

I love my Playstation 3 (I have the 80gb Motorstorm edition btw). I love Guitar Hero 3 on it. Though at the moment I am a little burned out with it, though I look to play some this weekend with Naomi. She on the other hand is pretty damn good and can kick my ass on most songs. Most men wouldn't admit to their girl beating their asses at a video game, but i think it fucking rocks that I have a woman who is into gaming. Most women are not as understanding or even remotely into gaming.

I have to say that I am one lucky son of a bitch. Naomi is more than i could have ever asked for and she does so much for me. She puts up with my moodyness, and my computer addiction. She goes out of her way to spend time with me. Something that honestly when we first got together sort of scared me, almost to the point of running away. But, then i realized that, here I sit with a woman who loves me so much that she wants to be with me all the time. I mean how fucking cool is that? A woman who is beautiful, intelligent and makes me laugh my ass off on a daily basis. She has this child like quality about her, almost like a kid trapped in a womans body. I love that about her, She posesses this innocent quality about her that just makes my heart melt. I know now that she is the woman i want to spend the rest of my days with and the woman I want there by my side when things turn to shit. I'm watching her sleep as I type this. I love you Baby :O)

Updating my blog has been on the back burner for a bit, works been kicking my ass and I have been busy with other web projects. Such as updating my automotive site ( sneak peek http://www.projectlt10.com/drupal ).

I've also been trying to build my music collection back up. I am back up to a meager fifty gigs so far.

I'm also asking, if anyone uses any of the Adobe applications below. I am curious as to your favorite plugin or filter? I am looking for new plugins constantly (i have over 4gigs worth so far and almost all installed!) Here are the Adobe Apps I have installed and use.

Adobe Photoshop CS3
Adobe Lightroom CS3
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
Adobe Fireworks CS3
Adobe Flash CS3
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
Adobe After Effects CS3
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Adobe InDesign CS3
Adobe Audition 3.0
Adobe Soundbooth

I've also discovered Chris Pirillos video site ( http://chris.pirillo.com/live/ ) . He absolutely makes me jealous with his dual 30" Dell monitors and multiple Macs, makes my 22" Dell look tiny *weep*. I remember watching him when he first appeared on Tech Tv (back before it became shitty G4). Back when he was primarly doing the Lockergnome thing.
